Information We Collect
- Account information: email address and password, stored locally on your device (not on our servers).
- Date of birth: collected during sign-up to verify you meet our 18+ age requirement, stored locally on your device.
- Profile & health data you provide: name, current weight, goal weight, height, dietary preferences, and workout preferences — stored locally on your device.
- Apple Health data: with your permission, Somni reads your step count and body weight from Apple Health to personalize your experience. This data stays on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.
- Photos: if you use the Body Visualizer feature, the photo you select is sent securely to our backend and processed by a third-party AI image service (Replicate, using OpenAI's image model) to generate a preview image. We do not store your photos on our servers after processing.
- AI chat & plan data: messages you send to the AI trainer, and the profile details used to generate meal/workout plans (name, weight, goal weight, dietary/workout preferences), are sent to our backend and processed by OpenAI to generate responses. These are not permanently stored on our servers.
- Usage data: basic app usage (e.g., streaks, water tracker, notification preferences) is stored locally on your device.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to personalize meal plans, workout plans, AI chat responses, and body-transformation previews, verify age eligibility, and to operate core app features like reminders and progress tracking.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to power AI features:
- OpenAI — processes chat messages and generates meal/workout plans
- Replicate — processes photos for the Body Visualizer feature
These providers receive only the data necessary to generate a response and are bound by their own privacy policies.
Data Storage & Security
Most of your personal data (profile, weight, date of birth, plans, preferences) is stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers except as described above. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
